Yeah, it's June.
And with the exception of high humidity and perspiration, not much is happening.
But here are some assorted pics from around the hood.
Personalized license place from an obvious Robert Heinlein fan.
The Air Force Cycling Classic from a couple weeks ago.
Peterbilt truck. Now that looks comfy! I checked the Peterbilt website, and this thing looks bigger than anything I was able to find there.
This is an odd sign to be on a local playground. Actually, I do know the quite logical reason for it, but it's funnier if you don't know it.
There was a pet adoption event recently at PetSmart. Two cat rescue organizations were inside, and there was a dog pen on the sidewalk outside the store. Here's one of the dog rescue volunteers with one of her organization's pups. I'm sure he was hoping he'd be adopted.
Man's (and Woman's) best friend, indeed!
GROKIT? I don't get it. Yeah, I'm slow and you gots to explain things to me.

Hi, Mike.
The word "grok" is from Robert Heinlein's 1961 novel "Stranger In A Strange Land." Here's what Wikipedia says about the word.
"Like many influential works of literature, Stranger made a contribution to the language: specifically, the word "grok." In Heinlein's invented Martian language, "grok" literally means "to drink" and figuratively means "to understand," "to love," and "to be one with." One dictionary description was "To understand thoroughly through having empathy with". This word rapidly became common parlance among science fiction fans, hippies, and computer hackers, and has since entered the Oxford English Dictionary among others."

Thanks, Babs and Ann Marie! The playground sign is that way because there's a daycare center on the ground floor of the nearby office building. So while the playground belongs to the daycare center, they allow the public to use it after hours and on weekends. But I have no idea what the deal is with Veterans Day.
